HPMC Applications – Construction, Coatings, Detergent & Pharma

HPMC turns up across four broad families: construction (tile adhesive, putty, plaster, render, self-levelling), water-based coatings (thickening and stabilising), daily chemical (detergent thickening and suspension), and food/pharma grades.

Where HPMC is used

Each family uses a different property of the same polymer. In construction it is a water-retention and rheology agent; in coatings a thickener and film aid; in detergents a cold-water-dispersible thickener; in food and pharma a binder, film former and controlled-release matrix.

Use the map below – every application links straight to its detailed page. Pick the application closest to yours and follow the link; then Run it in your own formulation – request a sample for a side-by-side comparison test.

Our selection guide is organised by what you are making, not by chemistry: tile adhesive, putty, gypsum plaster, self-levelling and rendering each have a recommended range, all quoted under the same test condition of 2% solution, pH 7, 20 C, Brookfield at 20 rpm. Application evidence, not invented case studies.
