Thickening, suspension and surfactant compatibility

HPMC (surface-treated grades) disperses in cold water with a controlled delay, which suits a wet-blend line, while CMC brings anionic thickening and suspension. The right choice depends on your surfactant system, target viscosity and salt tolerance.

Every viscosity comes in both NDJ and Brookfield, always with the test conditions – concentration, temperature, spindle and speed – so the number you check on arrival matches the one we shipped against. We recommend a starting grade and confirm it against your formula.

We supply both non-surface-treated and surface-treated grades. The surface-treated version goes straight into cold water and develops viscosity with a controlled delay, which is what a wet-blend line needs. Tell us your mixing sequence and we will tell you which one to order.
